Cooling Fan Yellow Wire

The part cooling fan wires are yellow and blue this time double check yours just to be sure.

The fan has 4 wires yellow black white red but the power supply has just two wires. A 2 wire fan is controlled by adjusting either the dc voltage or pulse width in low frequency pwm. The third wire varies depending on the manufacturer but usually it is blue or yellow.

The difference between 2 wire fans and 3 wire fans is the availability of feedback from the fan for closed loop speed control. However two fans with 3 wire connectors may not have the same wire colors. A 3 wire fan can be controlled using the same kind of drive as for 2 wire fans variable dc or low frequency pwm.

It should be plugged in to one of the two controllable fan connectors see herevoltage and ground is written on the board too. Of course all you need is the red and black wire to run your computer fan but if you didnt know what the extra wires are for this video may help you out. Usually yellow or green color wire is used in a 3 wire fan for the pulse output tacho connection.
