Fan Clutch Bolt

M103 stuck fan clutch bolt.

Fan controller asus. Lightly run the bolts into the holes making sure the threads. Reinstall the fan clutch. 85 300sd 245k 87 300sdl 251k.

Its not pretty i have seen it twice in the last few months. Minus removing the radiator to get a small impact gun in there is there a way i can jam the large idler pulley the fan clutch rides on so i can remove the dead clutch. We were unable to easily locate the torque specifications for the fasteners.

You have to air to release the clutch and you can rotate it to access the bolts. If unsuccessful i will remove the bearing bracket with the clutchfan and work on removing the bolt. Once you have matched up the old fan clutch to the new unit reassemble it by installing and tightening the nuts in a cross pattern.

Remove these bolts and the clutch will be free from the fan. Remove these nuts and the clutch will come free from the blade. There will be four to six 10mm bolts that will hold the actual clutch part of the fan to the fan blade itself.

The fan clutch can come apart and throw the fan and front of clutch assembly. Note use of aluminum tubing to stop rotation of fan assembly during torquing. The fan clutch bolts seem to have a bad habit of coming loose.

Torquing fan clutch to water pump bolts. We referred to alma bolt company prime fasteners torque specifications for grade 5 and grade 8 bolts. There are four large bolts in the center of the fan assembly that hold the clutch in place.

I hope you remove the bolt without much unnecessary damage. Hold the new fan clutch in place aligning the bolt holes in the same place as the old clutch. Being that the fasteners on our powerplant.

If cutting the bracket is the only way to remove the bolt you might as well buy a new bracket and attach the new fanclutch.
