Considered a step up as thermatic fans are lighter release parasitic power from the vehicles engine expends spinning a fan clutch andor a belt driven mechanical fan.

As far as performance there is zero issue with the electric fan. The clutch fan draws power from the engine due to the added load. Old clutch fan vs new electric fans.

Electric fans save power but add weight and require a lot of wiring. The only con is cost. Electric fans have the advantage of being able to cool the engine after it is shut down but arent likely to cool as well as a properly set up clutch fan.

But if you have to buy a new clutch fan and blades then its worth it to pay a little extra for the electric fan.
