Ceiling Fan Installation No Ground Wire

The white wire is your neutral wire the copper wire is the grounded wire and the black wire powers the fan.

Fan controller grow room. Connect the black and the white fan leads to the like colored circuit wires. Use wire nuts to attach the fans black or colored wire and white wire to matching wires in the ceiling box. The ground should be coming off of your frame.

The basic installation of a ceiling fan is no different from that of a standard light fixture. Depending on the age of the home and if the home is older then it may be that many other circuits do not have a ground wire as well. The ground wire doesnt carry any electrical current unless there is a problem in your electrical system.

The ground wire carries displaced electricity away to reduce the risk of electrical shock if lets say the metal parts of the ceiling fan or any other appliance or part attached to your electrical system becomes accidentally charged. When completing your 4 wire ceiling fan switch wiring remember to connect the black wire to the units black and blue wires. Now connect the neutral wires from the ceiling and fan together.

Install the ceiling fan following the instructions provided with your fan kit. If the wiring has a green ground wire attach it to the green or bare wire in the box.
