Cpu Fan Not Detected

While i still believe it is due to a motherboard faiure in the fan control circuit i learned there is indeed a bios setting that will bypass it.

If you have multiple cpu fan headers on your motherboard try plugging the fan into a different slot. Ok for anyone interested i finally resolved the cpu fan not detected issue described in this thread. I must have been in the bios a dozen times and did not recognize it.

Cpu fan runs too slowly due to dust or too low quality. Hence in such cases changing the fan settings back is what you are supposed to do firstly. Non intel fans running off the cpu fan header andor non hp fans running off the system fan header could be a problem as there very well could be a current limitation and a speed detection issue.

I suggest that you stay with the original fans and if you have extra fans then tap into a molex or sata power connector for a source of electrical power. Cause each boot must press the f1 key to boot. Replace the side panel and reconnect keyboard mouse and monitor cables.

The result turned on reported the error 511 cpu fan not detected. If the fan spins and is not making noise turn the computer off by pressing the power button on the front of the computer for 5 seconds. Try an alternate cpu fan header.
