Fan Clutch Delete

Black ceiling fan with light small. Joined may 9 2016 85 posts. Discussion starter 1 feb 8 2017. Most fan clutches have issues with the spring and this means you need to replace the fan clutch as a whole unit.

I was able to remove tension from the belt by prying against tensioner pulley with a 1 piece of square tubing i had laying around. Once you have matched up the old fan clutch to the new unit reassemble it by installing and tightening the nuts in a cross pattern. This large nut is directly attached to the fan clutch mechanism.

Ford clutch fans have evolved from the fan that attaches to the water pump pulley with four bolts to a fan that attaches to the water pump with a singular large nut. Remove these nuts and the clutch will come free from the blade. Depending on the model you have these are the components you want to remove without a fan clutch tool.

Discussion starter 1 aug 9 2014. My fan clutch delete. Does the fan clutch cool the motor and the radiator.

1 of 2 go to page. Reinstall the fan clutch. Used it to remove a pitman arm nut many moons ago along with a small sledge hammer.

It got a little tweaked from that endeavor but may still work for the fan clutch.
