Whole House Fan Motor Just Hums

Does this point to bad brushes a bad.

Ceiling fan installation sydney. What i found to be the culprit was a single wire has pulled loose of the wiring harness that connect the fan to the switch housing or in some cases light kit. If i turn the power off and then manually rotate the fan a quarter turn or so it will then start when i apply power.
